The BUSY TUMBLE TOP is a fun activity to keep your baby busy! When she pushes on the big button, colorful balls pop, tumble and twirl inside the clear core. When she’s on the move, she can carry this top by the handle and cart it off with her to keep her occupied in the car or wherever she goes.

While she gets into the tumbling, bumbling action, your little one can pick up valuable skills, too. As she discovers that she’s making those balls pop all by herself, she may learn concepts like cause & effect. No matter what she’s up to, she’s sure to have twirling, swirling, poppable, unstoppable fun!

Cause & Effect
“If I push the button, I can make the balls swirl!” Playing with toys that rely on an action or force to initiate an outcome helps children learn the concept of cause & effect. Understanding cause & effect not only empowers children to control their play, it can help them figure out how lots of everyday objects work—from touch screens to gumball machines!

Gross Motor Skills
Every time your child reaches for that big button, and pushes on the plunger she’s practicing her gross motor skills. Gross motor skills, or big muscle movement skills, develop before fine motor skills.

Control of Muscle Strength
Control of muscle strength is the skill that allows us to know how much force to apply to an object, whether it’s plunking the keys on a piano or pushing a toy on the carpet. Playing with toys that require a child to push or pull on objects, helps them learn about their own strength and how much force is required to make something move. When children push on the big button to make the balls in the BUSY TUMBLE TOP twirl, they’re figuring out how much muscle power they need to use to get the balls inside bouncing!

Hand-Eye Coordination
Organizing the hands and eyes to work together, or “hand-eye coordination,” is a skill that takes a lot of practice and refining. Pushing the button on the BUSY TUMBLE TOP can help your child practice hand-eye coordination as she is learning to work her hands and eyes together. Good hand-eye coordination is an essential foundation skill—she’ll need it for tasks as diverse as maybe putting a pacifier in her mouth, pulling a tissue from a box and putting together the pieces of a puzzle.

Fundamental Movement Skills
Fundamental movement skills allow the body to move from one place to another. At first, she may roll or reach toward the colorful Tumble Top. Once she’s a little older, she can pick up this top and take it with her as she toddles around. Carrying the top can be comforting, and help her feel balanced as she’s stepping out and about in the house and yard.

Learn more—together!
Want to join the fun? Playing with your child can boost her learning, and it gives her more time to bond with you! Try these simple tips to enhance your child’s play experience:

  • Encourage your child to push down the button using different hands, then fingers. This helps develop individual finger strength.
  • Children learn words best when they’re accompanied by physical experiences. As your child pushes the button, say words like “Pop! Up! Push! Down!” The more she hears a word, the more likely she is to repeat it.
